Barton Offers Certified Medication Aide Course as Hybrid Class

Barton Community College will offer a Certified Medication Aide Hybrid Course in Great Bend and Wilson, Sept. 10 through Nov. 12. The course is one of Barton’s new hybrid courses, which are delivered in the classroom through lecture and supplemented by online components. Students will spend time in the classroom and at a clinical site, and complete the remainder of their coursework online.

Center for Adult Education to Begin Classes

Barton Community College’s Center for Adult Education, 1025 Main, will start new class sessions Aug 25. Classes will be conducted for basic math and reading skills along with preparation for the GED (General Education Development) tests. Morning classes will meet from 9 to 11:45 a.m. Monday through Thursday. Evening classes will meet from 5 to 9 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. Students may also choose to study via the Internet in a distance learning program.

The Barton Community College Foundation will celebrate its 30th annual Big Benefit Auction Saturday, Aug. 23, with a “Festival of Seasons.” This fund-raising event for academic scholarships will take place at the Highland Hotel Convention Center, beginning with a silent auction at 6 p.m. followed by the live auction at 7 p.m.

Breaking traditions in choosing a career has advantages. Women in careers traditionally chosen by men can receive as much as 25 percent more in salary than they would in a traditional career. Both women and men who choose non-traditional careers can base their jobs on abilities and interests, not gender stereotypes, and they have a greater chance of having a career they enjoy and greater flexibility in meeting family needs.

BCCC Foundation Allows Greensburg High School Seniors to Attend Barton at No Cost

The Barton County Community College Foundation, office of admissions and financial aid office have formulated a plan to allow any graduating senior from Greensburg High School to attend Barton at no cost. The foundation established the plan this week to provide aid to the Greensburg students, many of whom lost everything they owned when the EF5 tornado destroyed their town on May 4.
