Steffen Named Workforce Development Training Coordinator at Barton

Kala Steffen has been named Barton Community College’s Workforce Development Training coordinator serving the training and educational needs of business and industry.

Having served as an admissions representative for Barton for the past four years, Steffen has been a part of Barton’s marketing team and she brings those skills to her new position. As Workforce Development Training coordinator, she will focus on marketing and programming related to workforce development, including the college’s associate degree and certificate programs.
She will work in collaboration with Barton’s executive director of Workforce Training and Economic Development Julie Kramp, as well as college deans, instructors, coordinators and consultants in the development of curriculum for workforce programs.

Steffen will help develop partnerships between the college and area businesses, industries, service organizations, chambers of commerce, economic development centers, the Kansas Works Career Center and the Small Business Development Center. Her responsibilities also include governmental/agency compliance and event management involving workforce development programs.
Originally from Rozel, Steffen is a graduate of Fort Hays State University with both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in organizational leadership. She and her husband, Tyson, reside in Larned.
