Barton Art Students Exhibit Work in Fine Arts Display Cases
Great Bend artists Rose Dudek and Karen Shaner are exhibiting their artwork in the display cases in Barton Community College’s Fine Arts Building Lobby until the end of June. Barton art instructor Steve Dudek selected the artists to exhibit their work as part of a series of student exhibits in the display cases.
Rose Dudek is showing works in oil painting and photography. For the past 10 years, she has exhibited and earned awards for her colorful and expressive paintings in many shows in this area, including exhibits at Sterling College, Hays, Russell and the Kansas State Fair. For the past two years, she has also worked with photography. Recently she earned a first-place award in the Russell Regional Art Exhibition.
A 2008 graduate of Barton, Shaner is exhibiting watercolor paintings and digital photography. She describes her art styles as both abstract and realistic. Shaner has exhibited her work at the Kansas State Fair, earning a merit award, and she received a Midwest Artists Award in the Wichita Garden Show and the Corner Bank Award of Excellence. She also received a first-place award in the Russell Regional Art Exhibition.
Both artists are students of Dudek at the college and have exhibited their work in Barton Student Art Exhibitions at the Shafer Gallery.
