Shafer Gallery Hosts Instrumental and Vocal Students’ Recital

The Barton County Community College Music Department will present a student recital at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 10, in the Shafer Gallery, located in the Fine Arts Building. The gallery will extend its hours to include 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday for viewing the BCCC Juried Technical Arts Exhibit currently on display.
The recital will include piano, voice and instrumental students with a variety of repertoire including vocal classical art songs, a Chopin piano prelude, musical theatre selections including “Can’t Help Lovin’ dat Man” from “Show Boat” and “I’ll Know” from “Guys and Dolls.”
Tanner Ledford, Ellinwood, will perform his original piano composition, Opus 1, No. 1.” Other Barton piano students performing in the recital include Kayla Simmons, Great Bend; and Kelly Lange and Malia Jamison, Hoisington. Piano performers are students of Karole Erikson, Barton keyboard instructor.
Voice students performing include Michelle Snyder, Margo Moyd and Sara Hayden, all of Great Bend; Tanner Ledford, Ellinwood; Joseph Doze and Malia Jamison, Hoisington; and Kristine Myers, Larned. They are students of Barton voice instructor, Glenna Gaunt.
Instrumental performers, who are students of Barton instrumental music instructor Steven Lueth, include Tim Demel, oboe; and Phillip Scheuerman, trumpet.
