Barton’s MUPTC Offers Disinfection Through Chlorination Workshop
Barton County Community College’s Midwest Utility and Pipeline Training Center will offer a workshop called “Disinfection Through Chlorination” April 22 and 23 at the training center, located in the southwest corner of Barton’s campus. The course is for water operators of Public Water Supply Systems and will present information and technical assistance to municipal and industrial potable water operators.
The class will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, and from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23. Registration fee is $80 per person. The fee includes training, materials, Tuesday lunch and refreshments. Pre-registration is required.
Topics include Disinfection With Chlorine, Chloramines, Chlorine Testing, CT Values and Disinfection Mathematics. Instruction will provide operators with information to safely manage, treat and maintain their potable water systems. This workshop is credited 10 hours for Kansas Department of Health and Environment State Certification.
Instructor is Michael Ball, owner of Kansas WATER Training. He has been an environmental technology instructor for more than eight years, and has consulted for numerous water systems with various problems and non-compliant issues. Before becoming an instructor, Ball was a surface water operator.
