Barton’s Jumpstart Program Gives Extra Boost to Incoming Freshmen

Barton County Community College’s Jumpstart Program is a residential summer program for incoming freshmen who need developmental coursework to help them get on track to graduate and/or transfer after two years. This summer, the program will run from July 13 through Aug. 8.

The students will form a learning community for four weeks, taking nine credit hours of Student Success, math and English in addition to participating in enrichment opportunities, service learning experiences, and student life activities.

The program is for Kansas residents who will be first-generation college students. Significant financial assistance is available for the program and students who are accepted into the program will be expected to remain enrolled at Barton Community College for both the fall 2008 and spring 2009 semesters.
