Barton Community College Awards Dance Line Scholarships
Barton County Community College has awarded dance line scholarships for 2008-2009 to students selected by Barton’s head dance line coach Amanda Schnoebelen.
The following students, listed by hometown, were selected for dance line scholarships and will be members of Barton’s Cougar Danz Force:
Council Grove
Erica Maas is a 2008 graduate of Council Grove High School where she was a member of the dance team all four years, serving as co-captain in her senior year. She also was active in Kansas Association for Youth and Spanish Club. She is the daughter of Eric and Jeanette Maas, Council Grove, and has chosen exercise science as her major with a minor in business.
Great Bend
Nakita Fischer is a 2008 graduate of Great Bend High School where she was active in cheerleading, Pep Club, Kayettes and Argonne All-Stars. She earned membership in the National Honor Society. She is the daughter of Brian and Kathy Fischer, Great Bend, and has not yet decided on a major.
Brooke Loreg is a 2008 graduate of Great Bend High School where she was active in dance line, Kayettes, Distributive Education Clubs of America and Pep Club. She is the daughter of Clifford and Sabrina Loreg, Great Bend, and has not yet decided on a major.
Morgan Ramey is a 2008 graduate of Great Bend High School where she was active in Kayettes, Pep Club, cheerleading, Distributive Education Clubs of America and Future Business Leaders of America. She earned membership in the National Honor Society. She is the daughter of Dennis and Nancy Ramey, Great Bend, and has chosen nursing as a major.
Junction City
Kali LeClear is a 2008 graduate of Junction City High School. She is the daughter of James and Kandi LeClear, Junction City, and has chosen nursing as a major.
McPherson
Emily Krouse is a 2008 graduate of McPherson High School where she was active in HiSteppers dance team for three years. She is the daughter of Ron Krouse, McPherson, and she has not yet decided on a major.
Ogallah
Sierra Ann Fabrizius is a 2008 graduate of Trego Community High School where she was active in dance line, volleyball, yearbook as editor, Kansas Association for Youth, Family Career and Community Leaders of America, Science Club and T-Club. She is the daughter of Mark and Kathleen Fabrizius, Ogallah, and has chosen elementary education as a major.
Pratt
Brooke Parker is a 2008 graduate of Pratt High School where she was active in cheerleading for three years, volleyball for one year, Pep Club and band for four years, Kansas Association for Youth for three years and Students Against Driving Drunk for two years. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Rea, Pratt, and has chosen radiology as a major.
Russell
Jenny Hayes is a 2008 graduate of Russell High School where she was active in dance team for four years, Pep Club and Kansas Association for Youth for two years, and Key Club and softball for one year. She is the daughter of Robin Schneider, Russell, and has not yet decided on a major.
April Ostmeyer is a 2008 graduate of Russell High School where she was active in dance team for four years and Key Club. She also was named to the honor roll. She is the daughter of Todd and Ann Ostmeyer, Russell, and has chosen finance as a major with a minor in management.
Salina
Kac’ Rae Patterson is a 2008 graduate of Salina High School where she was active in volleyball in her freshman and sophomore years, cheerleading for one year, drill team for three years, select squad for two years and Peppers for one year as captain. She is the daughter of Trent and Dawn Bentley, Salina, and has chosen accounting as a major with a minor in business management and leadership.
Grand Junction, Colo.
Kristyna Kooba is a 2008 graduate of Central High School in Grand Junction, Colo., where she was a member of the ROTC drill team. She is the daughter of Alitza Brown and has chosen dance as a major with a minor in business.
Knoxville, Iowa
Lauryn Franck is a 2008 graduate of Melcher-Dallas Community High School where she was active in softball, volleyball, basketball, track, drill team, tumbling, trampoline and double-mini. She was named 2004 Murray Tournament Most Valuable Player in softball, received honorable mention all-conference in volleyball as a sophomore, was basketball team captain in her senior year and was named second team all-conference in her freshman and junior years, served as drill team captain in her senior year and was awarded honorable white ribbon in her freshman through senior years. She is a five-time national champion in tumbling, trampoline and double-mini, 21-time state champion and was named 2003 Amateur Athletic Union Iowa Outstanding Athlete. She also was active in Dance Express competition, TAG, band and honor band, choir and all-conference choir and 4-H. She was named to the National Honor Roll, “Who’s Who Among High School Students” and the United States Achievement Academy. She also has been a volunteer for Nacel Open Door and received the USAA National English Merit Award.
