Barton Offers Command Spanish for Office Personnel

Command Spanish for Office Personnel, a course offered by Barton Community College, will provide immediate access to functional language skills for non-Spanish-speaking office personnel. The language component utilizes phonetic encoding to present the most important Spanish commands, questions and phrases pertinent to an office setting. No prior knowledge of Spanish is necessary.

The class will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursdays, Aug. 21 through Oct. 23, in Barton’s Technical Building, T-103. Instructor is Mercedes Helms. Pre-registration is required. The fee of $172 includes two college credits and the textbook.

Topics to be covered include greeting customers and clients; phone communications; handling payments, returns and refunds; giving directions; gathering personal data; making appointments; dealing with disgruntled clients; and assisting walk-in customers.
