College’s Clara Barton Colloquium to Help Nurses Make a Difference Every Day

“Making a Difference Every Day” is the theme for the 18th annual Clara Barton Colloquium offered by Barton County Community College.

The event is set from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 2, at the Highland Hotel and Convention Center, 3017 W. 10th Street. Registration will be from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m.
Barton offers the Clara Barton Colloquium as an annual event for registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, licensed mental health technicians, social workers, adult care home administrators and other health care professionals.

The objective of the seminar is to instill motivation and provide the necessary tools for individuals and teams to achieve excellence in their personal and professional lives. Participants will learn that standards can be achieved through adjustments in perspective, position and performance.

Andy Addis will be the speaker. Using humor, storytelling and in-depth teaching, Addis has become a popular speaker throughout the South and Midwest. In the past decade, he has spoken and led conferences such as Super Summer Youth Camps, Fellowship of Christian Athletes events, church conferences and revivals, and a variety of one-day speaking events. Addis is the pastor of a thriving congregation in Hutchinson. In three years, the church has grown from 120 to more than 500 members and added a satellite venue in 2006 to accommodate growth.

During the colloquium, an update on the Clara Barton Scholarship Fund will be presented. The event also will include a luncheon, door prizes and a grand prize drawing.
The college is approved as a provider of continuing nursing education by the Kansas State Board of Nursing. The Clara Barton Colloquium is approved for 7.5 contact hours applicable for RN, LPN and LMHT relicensure. The program also is approved for 7.5 continuing education clock hours for adult care home administrators.

Registrations must be postmarked by April 25 to qualify for the discounted prepaid registration fee of $69. The fee is $79 for all other registrations after April 25. The fee includes one-half college credit, continuing education hours, refreshments, lunch and materials.
