Students Receive Alban Academic Scholarship at Barton
Five students at Barton County Community College are recipients of the G.E. and Lois Alban Academic Scholarship for the 2007-08 academic year. This endowed scholarship is given by the BCCC Foundation as a $1,000 excellence award. To qualify for an excellence award, the student must maintain a grade point average of 3.5 to 4.0 and be a full-time student. The following students are recipients of the G.E. and Lois Alban Academic Scholarship:
Great Bend
Darin Hertel, a 2006 graduate of Great Bend High School, is a sophomore at Barton majoring in automotive technology and business. At Barton, he is a member of Phi Theta Kappa honor society. He plays in Barton’s jazz band and pep band. He is the son of Gary and Diana Hertel, Great Bend.
Jason Linsner, a 2006 graduate of Great Bend High School, is a sophomore at Barton majoring in automotive technology. He is the son of Joan Linsner, Great Bend.
Moundridge
Douglas Graber, a 2006 graduate of Moundridge High School, is a sophomore at Barton majoring in automotive technology and auto body work. He is the son of Mark and Torinda Graber, Moundridge.
Ottawa
Jennifer Baldwin, a 2006 graduate of Ottawa High School, is a sophomore at Barton majoring in accounting. At Barton, she is a member of Phi Theta Kappa honor society and dance line. In addition, she is a part-time teacher’s assistant at Barton. She is the daughter of J.R. and Shawn Baldwin, Ottawa.
Phillipsburg
Amber Hockman is a 2007 graduate of Phillipsburg High School where she was active in Amendment Show Choir, Students Against Destructive Decisions, volleyball, powerlifting and track. She earned membership in the National Honor Society and was chosen for Mid-Continental League, All-League first team in 2006 and second team in 2005. She is the daughter of Lyle and Brenda Hockman, Phillipsburg, and plans to major in business.
Patrick Patterson, a 2006 graduate of Phillipsburg High School, is a sophomore at Barton majoring in business. He is the son of Jeannette Patterson, Phillipsburg.
