Students Receive Clifford and Pauline Getz Scholarship at Barton County Community College
Barton County Community College has announced recipients of the Clifford and Pauline Getz Scholarship for the 2006-07 academic year. This endowed scholarship is awarded by the BCCC Foundation. The following students are recipients of the Getz Scholarship and have earned the scholarship as an excellence award, which requires that the recipient have a grade point average of 3.5 to 4.0 and be a full-time student at Barton.
Great Bend
April Hoffman is a 2006 graduate of Great Bend High School where she was active in Kayettes, volleyball, basketball, A Cappella Choir and Pep Club Board. She was named to the President’s Honor Roll and earned membership in the National Honor Society. She is the daughter of Curtis and Kathi Hoffman, Great Bend, and plans to major in nursing.
Hutchinson
Cassandra Branin is a 2006 graduate of Hutchinson High School where she was active in Key Club, Ultimate Frisbee Club, Dodge Ball Club, Art Club, softball and golf. She was named to the A-B Honor Roll and received the Salthawk Award. She also lettered in golf. She is the daughter of Tammy Branin, Hutchinson, and Dee Branin, New Mexico, and plans to major in pre-med.
Kanopolis
Chelsie Grogg is a 1996 graduate of Salina South High School. She is the daughter of Larry Rupert and Janice Rupert, both of Salina, and is majoring in nursing.
Larned
Patricia Schartz is a 2006 graduate of Larned High School where she was active in volleyball, golf and softball. She earned membership in the National Honor Society and “Who’s Who Among American High School Students.” She also was named to the National Honor Roll and received the National Mathematics Award. She is the daughter of Bert and Karla Schartz, Larned, and is entering Barton’s Medical Lab Technician Program.
St. John
Bethany Lynch is a 1998 graduate of St. John High School. She is the daughter of Ken and Shery Keller, St. John, and is majoring in nursing.
Zenda
Melinda Nowak is a 2006 graduate of Cunningham High School where she was active in volleyball, Kansas Association for Youth and Pep Club. She also earned membership in the National Honor Society. She is the daughter of Randy and Sharon Nowak, Zenda, and she plans to major in nursing.
